Background

After Desktop-12 was retired in October 2020, these components were retrieved:

  • 1x 8GB DDR3 memory module
  • 1x Nvidia Display Card
  • 1x 128GB SSD

The above memory module and display card were added to Desktop 11 in order to upgrade its performance. The SSD will be reserved for a portable storage in future.

To benchmark the performance gain, the Win 10 built-in Experience Index tool was used.

Win 10 Experience Index Tool

  • In Win 10, stop all programs in order to get a more accurate result.
  • Open a powershall console with Admin right.
  • Run the command > winsat formal
    • this will generate the results in XML and store them in the folder: C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore
  • To display the result, run command > Get-CimInstance Win32_WinSat
